Devon Rural Archive
The Devon Rural Archive (DRA) was set up in February 2006 by The Fenwick Charitable Trust to provide a much needed resource for local historians, archaeologists, genealogists and the public at large in Devon.
The DRA is aiming to rediscover the remains of buildings and landscapes which are not immediately recognisable to the untrained eye. Currently, their consultant archaeologist is engaged in research into the development of Devon Manor Houses and Farmhouses from 1300AD to the present.
In looking at the history of buildings, DRA hope to help owners and the general public further their understanding and enjoyment of historic properties and in doing so, encourage the preservation of historic features of interest.
To date the DRA have visited and produced reports on over 50 properties and landscape sites in Devon and we hope that with the help of our patron, Lucinda Lambton and the official launch of the DRA to generate further interest and awareness in our work and encourage owners of such properties and interested parties to make use of our service.
